In coming years, the retailer projects adding several more stand-alone Dream Shops in the San Diego and Los Angeles market re- gions. Tropical Smoothie Café has project- ed opening 56 new locations by 2020, bringing its total store count to 1,000 units operating across the U.S. Ross Stores intends to open 70 new Ross locations and 20 dd's Discounts locations in 2017. 28 of these new stores had been opened by July of this year, as part of a long term goal of having ap- proximately 2,000 Ross locations and 500 dd's stores overall. Alfred Angelo Bridal filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection to liquidate the company's holdings. The retailer operated 60+ locations in the U.S., Can- ada, Europe and Japan, in addition to it dresses being placed with 1,400 retail- ers worldwide. Sears announced it will close eight more stores and 35 Kmart locations by the end of October. Chronic Tacos Mexican Grill plans to open 26 new locations in the U.S. and Canada by the end of 2017, bringing its total to over 50 locations. Among the cities targeted for new units in CA are Bell Gardens, Burbank, Clovis, Hill- crest, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Oceanside, Pacific Beach, Redlands, and Sacramen- to. For 2018, the chain projects open- ings in Barstow and Newbury Park. In late June, dd's Discounts celebrated the opening of seven new stores on the same day, one of which was its 200 th lo- cation opened in Manteca (bringing the chain's total store count in California to 84). Tropical Smoothie Café announced the opening of its 600 th location, which opened June 23 rd in Missouri. Bebe Stores, Inc. announced it had made a series of deals that involve pay- ing approximately $65 million to exit all of its store leases as of the end of May. It has also turned over all of its in- tellectual property rights, international wholesale agreements and e-commerce URLs to the joint venture (BB Brand Holdings LLC) that it has with Blue Star Alliance. Bluestar, in turn, has a new agreement with a third party for the URL and wholesale licenses. This strategy allows bebe to wind down its operations and keep the brand alive without bankruptcy filings. Elements therapeutic massage studios projects adding 30 new locations in 2017, following another consecutive year of double-digit growth that saw increased revenues system wide and the addition of 20 new units in 2016.
