Among recent hot markets targeted for growth have been New York, Con- necticut, Illinois, New Jersey, Indiana, Louisiana, Texas and Arizona. In May of 2014, Jim Notarnicola disclosed that BRIX Holdings plans to grow Smooth- ie Factory at a pace of approximately 25 new units being added annually. The concept offers fexible store formats, including a "mini-factory," which allows stores to be placed in food-courts and other small spaces. The bigger format uses 1,200 to 1,800 square feet of space, while the mini format utilizes 400 to 500 square feet. Among acceptable shopping venues will be enclosed malls, power centers, community and neighborhood strip centers, pad site/outparcels, lifestyle centers, mixed-use centers, and down- town/central business districts. The concept primarily targets 15 to 40 year old consumers who are health conscious. The newest prototype de- sign has an updated décor and fea- tures sit-down space and visible prep areas, so guests can observe the "the- ater" of their smoothie or fresh juice being concocted. Smoothie Factory is an established, simply appealing con- cept that provides guests with reason- ably priced daily meal choices, served quickly, in refreshingly attractive sur- roundings. Looking forward, the con- cept will continue to enhance its fran- chising system and brand image as a premier health and wellness cafe.
